Scaling and Root Planing Post-Procedure Care

Instructions following scaling and root planing:

  1. DO NOT eat or drink anything for about (1) hour or until the numbness totally wears off.
  2. If you have any discomfort, take Advil or Tylenol; NO ASPIRIN
  3. Brush and floss twice a day using a soft toothbrush; change your tooth brush every three months.
  4. Use Listerine as your daily mouthwash.
  5. For the next few days, also rinse with warm water and salt. (1/2 teaspoons of salt dissolved in 8oz of warm water)
